Look at these new excuses for unfinished records....

Little Gem gets famous
John Ashton, aka Little Gem, has had a minor spanner put in the works of completing his new album, by accidentally becoming the keyboard player for The Last Shadow Puppets with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys.
For some reason John has elected to play all the major festivals in a number-one selling band rather than finish his new album for GCR.

Winter North Atlantic shows
Despite ongoing lies about finishing a new album, Ed Carter (WNA) is confirmed for some live performances over the Summer, including Moor Music Festival (7,8,9 August, Leeds) and SPLAYD Festival (25 May, Sheffield).
Playing new material might even result in some of it getting recorded, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Roland Ritter
Marconius Baddy and Mr Sleaze have been working their way through thousands of litres of red wine in recent weeks. Rumour has it the new Roland Ritter album is subsequently nearing completion as a result, but Baddy keeps falling asleep whilst mixing tracks. Unsurprisingly, no ETA at present.

Winter North Atlantic remixing Golden Disko Ship
After enjoying a recent gig together, there are plans afoot for a WNA remix of the GDS track 'Girl as a Slower Ghostship'. Remixes are all very well, where's the WNA album?

Fuzztival season
GCR also-rans Paul Sleaze, Juliun c90 and Ed Carter (Winter North Atlantic), will be joining up with Bugbrand, Matt Gray and Kid Quaalude for some electronic jiggery-pokery at Sheffield University's 4 room extravaganza. Room 1 is compered by Steve Lamacq. Our room is compared to a piss up in a brewery.

Little Gem remixing everyone in Sheffield
John Ashton is just finishing up a remix for a well-known track off Arctic Monkeys' debut album, and a soon-to-be-well-known track from Reverand and the Makers' new lp.

Winter North atlantic remixes
Ed Carter has just completed WNA remixes for Bracken (Anticon) and The Gentleman Losers (City Centre Offices). Not sure what plans are for these yet, but will keep you posted.

Little Gem with Ben Ottewell
John Ashton joined Ben Ottewell (Gomez) on guitar and keys during an intimate show in Matlock recently, joined by Sam Genders (Tunng) for a couple of tracks. Despite all the beer that had fallen into John, he managed to complete the show without breaking any limbs.

Little gem will be supporting Ben Ottewell (of Gomez) on the following dates in the Netherlands
Fri January 12, 013, Tilburg, NL
Sat January 13, Paradiso, Amsterdam, NL
Sun January 14, Tivoli, Utrecht, NL

Little Gem - Australia cancellation
LG was due to support the Arctic Monkeys in Australia this month, showcasing tracks off his next release, due later in the year. Unfortunately, John Ashton (aka Little Gem) broke his elbow, and is out of action for a few weeks.
Hope it's better soon John. All messages of sympathy (ironic or otherwise) should be directed to

The Winter North Atlantic Mercator ep gets this review in Hip Hop Connection:
"Beautifully plucked guitars, interesting drum patterns and a lightness of touch that comes as a total refreshment after listening to the Nelly single three times in a row with no brain response whatsoever. You could make a case for this being instrumental hip-hop a la RJD2 but it sways more towards the folktronica of Four Tet."

Various GCR associates are playing at Sheffield University's Love Music Hate Racism event, 30.04.06.
